{"id":33,"date":"2013-02-11T21:08:40","date_gmt":"2013-02-12T04:08:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lydiakluge.com\/?p=33"},"modified":"2013-10-18T21:11:51","modified_gmt":"2013-10-19T04:11:51","slug":"monday-11th-february-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lydiakluge.com\/?p=33","title":{"rendered":"Growth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I recently read a quote from the Chinese classic text, The <i>Tao Te Ching<\/i>,<br \/>\n\u201cThe giant pine tree<br \/>\ngrows from a tiny sprout.<i>\u201d<br \/>\n<\/i>I pondered these lines and their meaning to me. \u00a0I reflected on the literal sense, the wondrousness in nature of a seedling becoming a tree, or a baby mammal, with its small limbs and closed eyes, becoming an adult.\u00a0 And figuratively, the spark of an idea igniting and developing.\u00a0 Growth &#8211; the potential within everything to become something bigger.<\/p>\n<p>During my walk this morning I marveled about growth, about the tiny molecules &#8211; the building blocks &#8211; inside everything, with all the necessary tools to develop into something great.\u00a0 I thought of God, of nature, and science, and the magnificentness of it all.\u00a0 As my boots crunched on the crystalized snow I thought of the plants underneath, lying dormant during the frigid weather, ready to push their way to the surface and blossom in the spring.<\/p>\n<p>I thought about the essential elements needed for growth: light, water, warmth, and nutrients (knowledge I ascertained in science class all those years ago).\u00a0 I thought about how these needs stand true for both plants and humans alike.\u00a0 How we crave these things.\u00a0 How my new regiment of a daily walk helps fulfill elements for growth; feeling the light and warmth of the sun on my skin, soaking up Vitamin D, filling my lungs with the fresh mountain air.\u00a0 My walks also allow me time to think and reflect.\u00a0 I may be done with my physical growth, but these elements seem to help with mental growth too.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_30\" style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lydiakluge.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_5676.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30\" class=\" wp-image-30   \" alt=\"What signifies growth in humans?\" src=\"https:\/\/lydiakluge.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_5676-682x1024.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lydiakluge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_5676-682x1024.jpg 682w, https:\/\/lydiakluge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_5676-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/lydiakluge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_5676-624x936.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-30\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">What signifies growth in humans?<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Growth can be described as the development from a simpler to more complex stage.\u00a0 Is this true of humans?\u00a0 Do we become more complex over time?\u00a0 The accumulation of our life experiences influencing our thoughts and ideas.\u00a0 Is real growth being able to decipher through all this, to learn from it, to pick out what is important and what isn\u2019t?<\/p>\n<p>I have the pleasure of having friends of various ages and stages of life.\u00a0 I have noticed that some of my friends appear to have things more figured out;
