{"id":35,"date":"2013-02-12T21:09:23","date_gmt":"2013-02-13T04:09:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lydiakluge.com\/?p=35"},"modified":"2013-10-18T21:16:45","modified_gmt":"2013-10-19T04:16:45","slug":"tuesday-12th-february-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lydiakluge.com\/?p=35","title":{"rendered":"Subliminal Messages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are bombarded with subliminal messages every day.\u00a0 Advertising companies use them to persuade us to buy their products through clever use of colors, words, images, sounds, and product placement.\u00a0 Any communication that skips our conscious thought, but enters our subconscious mind, is known as a subliminal message.\u00a0\u00a0 As the conscious mind doesn\u2019t have time to rationalize or analyze these messages, it is said that people might more easily accept them.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the use of subliminal messages in advertising, <i>we<\/i> submit subliminal messages every day.\u00a0 We send out vibes to others and in turn pick up on messages being transmitted to us. \u00a0These messages are not <i>what<\/i> we say or even <i>how<\/i> we say things &#8211; in fact we submit messages when we are not saying anything at all &#8211; they are a subconscious projection of our internal feelings.<\/p>\n<p>I recently read a book that made me think about the vibes and messages we are sending out.\u00a0 It is called <i>The Daily Coyote<\/i> by Shreve Stockton.\u00a0 In the book Stockton explains how her domesticated coyote, Charlie, picks up on her feelings.\u00a0 He senses her emotions towards <i>him<\/i> (love and later fear) but also on her general well-being and state-of-mind.\u00a0 When Stockton becomes stressed, anxious, and overwhelmed, Charlie senses this and realizes she is not the calm, assertive, capable leader, and so he becomes leader (and shows aggression and dominance towards her).\u00a0 But when she gets herself emotionally back on track, their relationship changes for the better.<\/p>\n<p>I thought about the subliminal messages I am giving off and how it makes those around me feel.\u00a0 I am acutely aware of how animals can sense our emotions.\u00a0 I have a fear towards dogs (gained from an incident in my childhood).\u00a0 Dogs know this about me, and sometimes however much bravado I put up, they can tell that inside I have some level of anxiety and fear. This often causes them to bark at me, which then increases my fear.\u00a0 But I wondered if it is more than that?\u00a0 Is it just my fear towards dogs that they sense, or like Stockton, do I lack calmness and assertiveness at times, and this is what they are picking up on?\u00a0 Do I need to make changes within to re-adjust my signal?<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_31\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lydiakluge.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_1754.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-31\" class=\" wp-image-31 \" alt=\"Dogs (and other animals) have an innate ability to tell how we feel.\" src=\"https:\/\/lydiakluge.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_1754-1024x682.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lydiakluge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_1754-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/lydiakluge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_1754-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lydiakluge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_1754-624x416.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-31\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dogs (and other animals) have an innate ability to tell how we feel.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>If animals can sense our emotions (and re-act towards us accordingly), do humans too?\u00a0 I think children are more apt to.\u00a0 I recall my first day teaching, a class full of 10 year olds watching my every move.
