The path is untracked, not been set foot on by another soul (sole)!\u00a0 The glistening crystals beckon me forth \u2013 come and explore.\u00a0 It is so peaceful.\u00a0 My ears barely register the gentle hush of quacking leaves and distant low hum of traffic.\u00a0 I step forward, my boots squeaking in the new snow, as I enter the world beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n

The trail leads me over bridges and in and out of aspen trees.\u00a0 Footprints of birds and small mammals are the only other sign of life.\u00a0 Leaves line the path and cling to branches in their glorious shades of golden, amber, ocher, and russet. \u00a0I stand agape at the beauty.<\/p>\n

I frame and click as I capture with my camera.\u00a0 The rest of the time I just breathe deeply and smile.\u00a0 I pull my sweater a little tighter and my knitted hat over my ears.\u00a0 I feel warm, content, and relaxed. \u00a0I love this time of year.<\/p>\n

As I look at these photos and think about the season, one of my favorite songs from elementary school enters my head.\u00a0 I love the words to it and the reminder to be thankful \u00a0– which I truly am.<\/p>\n

Whipped-up spray that is rainbow-scattered
\nAnd a swallow curving in the sky
\nShoes so comfy though they\u2019re worn out and they\u2019re battered
\nAnd the taste of apple pie.<\/p>\n

So I\u00a0mustn’t\u00a0forget
\nNo, I mustn’t forget
\nTo say a great big thank you

Scent of gardens when the rain\u2019s been falling
\n<\/span>And a minnow darting down a stream
\nPicked-up engine that\u2019s been stuttering and stalling
\nAnd a win for my home team.<\/p>\n
